“I'm new to sauna. How do I do it?”
You’ll love it! :)
Get in there, lie down if possible and enjoy the heating up process.
Listen to your body and trust how you feel!
Your body will tell you when it has had enough for a session. Sauna bathing is not a competition, nor an exercise in endurance or showing off. The goal is to leave feeling refreshed, invigorated, and restored—a feeling often compared to the natural high after a workout, without the physical exhaustion.
Typical sauna session consists of 3–5 rounds. Each round generally includes 10–20 minutes in the hot room, followed by a cooling-off period of equal or greater length outside the sauna.
When you sit in an 84+°C sauna, your body responds by increasing blood circulation to help move heat from the core to the skin, where it can be released more effectively. By breathing calmly and relaxing into the heat, you allow your body to adapt more comfortably to the thermal stress while promoting a sense of relaxation and well-being.
When the water is poured onto the hot rocks, it instantly turns to steam, expanding and moving air around but also increasing humidity and dramatically enhancing the transfer of heat to the skin. For a brief moment, the sensation can feel more intense than the body can comfortably regulate. These short bursts of heat create a unique sauna experience and, when enjoyed regularly, helps support cardiovascular conditioning, any kind of physical recovery, and improving overall immune resilience.
Breathing deeply and listening to your body will help you recognise when you've reached your comfort zone. For many people, this is where the most enjoyable and restorative part of the sauna experience begins. It is important to listen to your body and avoid pushing beyond your limits to extreme, allowing it to respond to the intensity of the environment in a calm, relaxed state rather than a fight-or-flight response.
Pro Tip: To stay comfortable for longer and get the most out of your sauna session, wear a sauna hat. By insulating your head from the intense heat, a sauna hat can help improve comfort and allow for a longer, more enjoyable sauna experience.
“How hot is it going to be?”
That depends entirely on your preferences, there is no hard fast rule. For some that means 75°C, for others 95°C or hotter. Some studies say anyhting above 84
